A different take on the vampire story – these guys are not nice! Our protagonist is a young man who just wants to play the sport he loves at a professional level. For those of us who know nothing about Ice Hockey we don’t have to worry as this is just a part of the protagonist’s life and is never over-played. What is done extremely well is the growing threat to the young and rising star as he tries to learn to live in Old World Europe rather than New World Canada.

It’s a dark and fun story, making the most of the vampire myth and that of the European cartels in the shape of the mob. There is no time in the book to become complacent and the novel has no flab pulling it down into overly emotional realms of silliness evident in most vampire stories.
